Entrepreneurs are never happy

Don’t let your entrepreneur spirit die in the darkness of frustration, depression, and excuses, you have big things to worry about.

you know, Howard Gossage.

He was an adman from the sixties who reinvented advertisement and used it to transform the world. Among other notable successes, he rescued the Grand Canyon, kick-started the Eco Revolution, liberated a Caribbean island.

If you can, read the book Steve Harrison wrote about him. You will not regret it.

In multiple successful entrepreneurs, you will see this mentality. This includes the one who is sure to be the next decade’s most influential entrepreneur.

When people asked why Elon Musk wished to become an entrepreneur, Elon Musk responded that he wanted to change the world for the better. Radically.

“When I use to be in college, I will try to think what would most affect the longer-term during a positive way,” he said at the 36th annual reception of the ENCORE Award at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, an event honoring Tesla Motors.

The rest is the history that every day we see being written.

That’s just one explanation, though. Hundreds more on why entrepreneurs go into business can be found:

Controlling your own life: working your own hours, spending more time with your family and friends (which, at least in the first years, would not necessarily happen). No one else is calling the shots, the procedures, the people, the society.

Following your passion: What makes you happy, you will do. You can’t even place a premium on the joy of endorsing what you really believe in and helping it.

Building (and leaving) a legacy: In building something of your own, there’s a huge feeling of pride. And you have to leave your grandchildren with something.

The joy of hunting: some enjoy it, some dislike it. As an entrepreneur, fresh chances to push yourself, be creative, and discover something different can be filled every day.

Financial autonomy: clearly.

Make your own name: creating a brand, encouraging others. Write a story that you’re going to tell your grandchildren by the fireplace.

And the collection begins.

Then why did I start with that thing about “changing the world”?

Since one main quality is trying to transform the world: “Entrepreneurs are never happy”. They’re still craving more. Even after completing their aims. They generally set up new ones shortly afterward.
